Behavior Management

Children learn best through prevention of problematic behavior,James’ Place Child Development Center behavior management practice is based on the premise that children learn best through prevention of problematic behavior, exposure to positive role models, the experience of positive reinforcement and being given the opportunity to experience consequences for behavioral choices. 

Staff and children are expected to treat each other with respect and dignity at all times. There will be no corporal punishment of any kind and aggressive behavior toward others will not be tolerated. 
Interventions will be administered based on a child’s developmental level according to a progressive format: Prevention, Verbal Cues, Time Out and Restitution, Natural and Logical Consequences.
